Federation Park, Palmwoods - Dog off-leash Area

In response to community requests for a fenced dog off-leash area in Palmwoods, council has undertaken a detailed site investigation to identify potential locations.

Council has identified a location in Federation Park, Palmwoods which is suitable for dog off-leash activities.

The community is invited to provide feedback on the proposal to develop a fenced dog off-leash area at Palmwoods.

Purpose

A new fenced dog off-leash area in Federation Park will provide opportunities for the community to exercise dogs off-leash in a fenced area that is in the Palmwoods residential area.

Community engagement

Council is seeking the views of local residents before progressing further with planning for the Palmwoods dog off-leash area. Please complete the survey to have your say.

The site plan outlines the proposed location for the Federation Park, Palmwoods Dog Off-leash Area.

Overview

Council aims to develop a dog off-leash area that will meet the needs of the local community. The final dog off-leash area will provide facilities for dogs and their owners and is proposed to include the following:

  • 1.2m high fence with black coated chain wire and secure, self-closing access gates
  • park shelter and seating
  • shaded seating areas
  • water supply tap with dog bowl
  • concrete access paths
  • dog bag dispenser and rubbish bin
  • signage
  • off-street car parking (long term infrastructure)

Where to from here

The feedback provided during this consultation process will be used to inform future planning and design of the Federation Park dog off-leash area.

With community support council will develop a dog off-leash facility in stages, subject to funding availability.
