Peregian Springs Multi-Purpose Play Space

Coolum Ridges Sports Complex has been selected for a multi-purpose play space. Following a review of the previous community feedback, council has developed a draft concept plan for the play space.

Purpose

The new multi-purpose play space will provide additional recreation opportunities for the community. The purpose of this engagement is to provide an update on the project and allow the community to review the draft concept plan and provide feedback.

Community engagement

In November – December 2016, council invited the community to share their ideas on the preferred site and play elements they would like to be considered for the play space. Based on this consultation the Coolum Ridges Sports Complex was identified as the preferred site.

Council is now providing the draft concept plan for the community’s information and is seeking your feedback.

Feedback for the concept design closed at 5pm 8 December 2017.

Where to from here

The feedback provided during this consultation process will be used to inform the detailed design phase of the project, which will occur in 2018.

Future funding for construction staging will be subject to future Capital Works budget reviews.

Overview

This project has occurred as a result of the Peregian Springs community requesting a new play area for older children to be active outdoors. Council identified four locations suitable for a multi-purpose play space, from which the community was invited to nominate their preferred location. During this consultation process the community also had the opportunity to have a say on various recreation activity they would like to be included.

Council has developed a draft concept design for a multi-purpose play space to be located at Coolum Ridges Sports Complex at Ridgeview Drive. The proposed design has incorporated the community’s priorities for the play space and includes:

  • multi-sports court
  • rebound wall
  • seating and shade trees
  • skate facilities.
