Why are you running a video competition?

Building a community that is resilient to disasters starts with our youngest community members. As part of its Get Ready Queensland program, council invites primary students to help tell our local communities how to best prepare for disasters and have the chance to win great prizes.

What should I include in the video?

Your video should inform and educate our local communities how to best prepare for disasters and encourage them to have their own disaster “WHAT-IF PLAN”.

When can I submit my video?

Entries can be uploaded from 9am on Monday, 1 April 2019. Submissions close at midnight on Tuesday, 30 April 2019.

Who can enter?

Grades Prep to 6 from any primary school located within the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area.

When will the winner be announced and how will the winner be notified?

Sunshine Coast Get Ready Schools Competition winner will be announced on 31 May 2019 via council’s Facebook page.

What is the prize?

  • Media marketing package: The winning team and their school will work with a professional marketing company to take their winning entry to the next level. Students will work behind the scenes and in front of the camera to deliver their entry concept for council’s 2019 Get Ready television, radio, and social media campaign (up to the value of $15,000)

  • Winning team members will each receive a Family Evacuation Kits (up to value of $1,500)

  • Runner-up prizes include Get Ready Packs and Emergency Kits

  • Various Get Ready merchandise.

Team Entry is open to students in grades P to 6 from any primary school located within the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area. A team may consist of one student but must be no more than five students in size. Please note, team entrants must have the consent of their school and parent or guardian to enter.

What will my video be used for?

Students will by mentored by a Sunshine Coast marketing agency to work behind the scenes and in front of the camera to deliver their entry concept for council’s 2019 Get Ready television, radio, and social media campaign.
