Background
Council recognises that a well-planned network of community facilities is essential in creating connected, active and healthy communities.
As Aura (also referred to as Caloundra South) grows, there is an intent to develop a network of community facilities to cater for the community at the neighbourhood and local level, district level (servicing larger populations) and major level (servicing the entire Aura community).
The Caloundra South Community Facilities Plan (the Plan) provides a framework for the planning and delivery of community facilities on land to be contributed to Council by the Developer for the following community facility purposes:
- Major Civic Centre
- Three District Community Centres
- Seven Local Community Centres
- 14 Neighbourhood Meeting Rooms
- Eco Community Facility
- Major Sports Facility
The vision for the Plan is to deliver a flexible, adaptable and functional network of community facilities in Caloundra South to facilitate a vibrant and inclusive community through co-location, partnerships, innovation and leading practice.
