There was an opportunity for the redesign of an existing seat in the Bokarina Beach development area, seen as a blank canvas, to create a vibrant mural and focal point for the community.

Between June and July 2023, council undertook a survey to seek community feedback on the design directions for the seat mural, located on the corner of Bokarina Boulevard and Longboard Parade, Bokarina.

Following community feedback and ideas submitted for the seat design, the option of beach culture ranked the highest. There were also multiple mentions of including turtles in the design.

The seat mural has now been delivered, reflective of the community ideas. The artist engaged was Mieke van den Berg (Art by Mieke).
