Investigation Area Overview
We are looking at ways to help protect Mooloolaba and reduce the risk of coastal hazards and flooding now and into the future.
Our community is already experiencing adverse impacts from coastal hazards such as nuisance flooding from high tides and localised rainfall. Mooloolaba is integral to our place identity, and a healthy coastal environment along the Sunshine Coast underpins population growth and tourism and ultimately the regional economy. In this context, coastal hazard management and adaptation is critical to future economic growth and community resilience.
This study is specifically looking at how we can build stronger and more resilient public assets and infrastructure which in turn help to reduce these risks for the local community.
This investigation will explore adaptation options for the area from Alexandra Headland to Mooloolaba Beach and Buddina, inland to Sunshine Motorway.
