Investigation Area Overview
We are looking at ways to help protect Golden Beach and Caloundra (Bulcock Beach) and reduce the risk of coastal hazards and flooding now and into the future.
Protecting the local values and character across the region are critical criteria in ensuring our region stays great for future generations. These investigations will include identifying adaptation options, with a primary focus on long-term solutions for future planning out to the year 2100.
Proactive measures taken today will ensure that we are better equipped to face future climate challenges, minimise damage and ensure a more resilient Sunshine Coast for everyone.
The need for these investigations has been intensified by the Bribie Island breakthrough in January 2022, which has resulted in increased water levels in Pumicestone Passage. Our community is now experiencing the impacts of coastal hazards, including inundation.
This investigation will explore adaptation options for the area from Bulcock Beach to Bells Creek.
