Albert Atkinson Park

Background:

A member of the public has submitted a Naming Proposal to name a park currently not officially named. The proposed name is to commemorate the life of Albert Atkinson and his significant lifelong contribution to the community of Nambour. Albert and his family arrived in SE Queensland in 1911 and settled in the Highworth area in 1927. During this time, Albert was an unpaid Minister to the local community and he worked the sugar cane and dairy farms on this site. In 1994, Albert sold this parcel of land to Maroochy Shire Council, becoming the park it is today

Naming proposals are processed in accordance with the endorsed Naming of Parks, Places, Community Infrastructure, Roads and Street Numbering Policy.
