Overview

Overview

Help shape the Sunshine Coast’s new Active Transport Plan.

Council adopted its current Active Transport Plan in 2011 and it’s time for a new one to better meet the needs of our region.

Council wants to see more people choosing to use ‘active transport’ for short trips.

The new Active Transport Plan will help Council to achieve its goal of delivering a connected, safe, healthy and sustainable transport system by 2041.

A transport system that works for the whole Sunshine Coast community, enhancing quality of life, contributing to economic viability, and adding to the region’s sustainability.

Achieving this vision may include:

  • improving the walking and riding network of paths
  • building new infrastructure where connections are missing, or support more comfortable travel
  • prioritising user safety
  • encouraging behaviour change.

Community Engagement

Between 20 May and 17 June 2024, community members were invited to complete an online survey to help guide the priorities for improving active transport on the Sunshine Coast.

You can view the summary report of the survey findings here.

Next Steps

All feedback gathered through the survey will be used to prepare the draft New Active Transport Plan.

The community will be invited to provide further feedback when the draft Active Transport Plan is prepared and this is anticipated to be towards the end of 2024.

To get the full picture, you can view the current Active Transport Plan and Integrated Transport Strategy on Council’s corporate website.
