Have your say: Draft landscape concept plan for Wilkins Park

Sunshine Coast Council is planning improvements to Wilkins Park in Pacific Paradise. A draft landscape concept plan has now been prepared, shaped by the feedback we heard during the first phase of community engagement.

Between 27 October and 5pm 24 November 2025, we’re inviting our community to provide feedback on the draft plan to help guide any final changes and assist in prioritising what gets constructed based on available budget.

Please complete the short survey below to share your feedback.

Council is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and the Queensland Privacy Principles.

The information this survey collects is to help Council understand the diversity of community views on the draft concept plan for Wilkins Park.

What’s happened so far?

Earlier this year, we asked our local community how they currently use Wilkins Park and what changes they’d like to see. The results from that first phase of engagement helped shape the draft concept plan.

You can view a summary of the feedback here.

What’s in the draft plan

The draft concept plan is now available to view. It shows a range of proposed improvements, grouped under five key categories:

  • new pathways to improve accessibility and create a walking loop through the park
  • playground improvements including a new toddler play hut, shade sail and seating
  • mini bike and scooter track for younger riders (ages 3–8)
  • shelter and seating areas for picnics and rest
  • park entry improvements including a new garden bed around the entry sign

Note: The draft plan shows more improvements than the current budget allows. Creating a full design helps Council understand what the community wants so we can plan ahead and prioritise construction when funding becomes available.

You can view the interactive draft plan and learn more about each upgrade area by clicking the plan below.

What’s not included

We heard community interest in upgrading the skate park or adding a pump track.

These elements are not included in this stage for a few reasons:

  • The existing skate park is still serviceable, future upgrades will be informed by the Sunshine Coast Skate and BMX Plan.
  • The current space occupied by the skate park does not allow room for a separate pump track without removing or relocating other key features.
  • A pump track or skate facility would also exceed the available budget for this stage of upgrades.

We also heard feedback about maintenance, public toilets, and lighting:

  • Maintenance: This feedback has been passed on to Council’s Parks and Gardens team.
  • Toilets and lighting: These aren’t included because Wilkins Park is classified as a Local Recreation Park, which typically does not include public toilets or lighting.

How much will be delivered?

There is some budget committed, and community feedback from this engagement will help Council prioritise which improvements are delivered first. The final scope may change depending on costs and available funding.

Next steps

Once the engagement period closes, Council will:

  • Review all community feedback to refine the plan and identify priorities.
  • Finalise the concept plan informed by the community’s input.
  • Staged construction of improvements.
