Consultation on the draft landscape plan closed 5pm on 14 February 2025

Project overview

Council is committed to providing high quality open space that supports inclusive, active, and healthy communities. Based on community input and feedback, Council has developed a landscape plan for Glenfields Neighbourhood Park that will guide future improvements to the park.

Community engagement

Phase 1 community engagement: Values and vision

In April and May 2024, Council engaged with local residents to understand what you love about Glenfields Neighbourhood Park and what could be improved. Using the feedback collected from the online survey, we developed a draft landscape plan for the park.

Council also consulted on a dog exercise area in the Glenfields estate. The area identified in the draft landcape plan was the community's preferred choice. We also received feedback that the community prefers the dog exercise area to be fenced.

A summary of the phase 1 community engagement findings can be viewed here.

Phase 2 community engagement: Draft landscape plan-Have we got it right?

In January and February 2025, Council invited residents to review the draft landscape plan and provide feedback by completing a short online survey.

103 survey responses were received. Thank you to everyone for your valuable contributions.

The results showed 77 per cent of respondents were in support of the proposed improvements to Glenfields Neighbourhood Park. Out of 103 participants, 48 people strongly supported and 26 supported the draft landscape plan, 10 people were opposed or strongly opposed with 10 neutral and two undecided.

The main things you told us you loved about the draft landscape plan included:

  • an upgraded playground for all ages
  • addition of the dog exercise area
  • the draft landscape plan includes all necessary items
  • many appreciative of the plan.

The feedback we received also included the following areas you would like us to revisit before finalising the design:

  • the location of the fenced dog exercise area (DEA)
  • drainage concerns
  • bike tracks and/or skate bowl
  • improved exercise equipment
  • improved lighting and security.

A summary of the phase 2 community engagement findings can be viewed here.

Next steps

We have now finalised the landscape plan based on our community’s feedback.

While the plan will guide future improvements, it is important to note that none of the elements are currently funded for implementation and we have not scheduled construction of the proposed dog exercise area or any park improvements for Glenfields Neighbourhood Park. We will use this plan to seek future funding opportunities.

Final Landscape Plan

Background

Glenfields Neighbourhood Park, located on Glenfields Boulevard, offers many existing facilities, expansive green spaces and significant potential. This park was identified and then upgraded from a local park to a district-level park in recent years. As a district-level park, Glenfields Neighbourhood Park plays a pivotal role in the Glenfields estate, providing space for the community to socialise and enjoy outdoor activities together.
