Project overview
Overview
Sunshine Coast Council is all about shaping awesome open spaces for lively and healthy communities! After chatting with locals in 2016, 2022 and 2023, we've wrapped up a super cool landscape plan for Lions Park and Norrie Job Park. One of the standout ideas - a pump track! That's right, this addition aims to amp up the thrills and fun for Coolum residents. Plus, it’ll mesh perfectly with the new basketball half court, making sure there’s plenty of action-packed playtime.
It is a track where you generate momentum on your bike by up and down body movements, instead of pedalling or pushing.
Pump tracks cater to all members of the community, creating a space that unites people from diverse backgrounds.
You can road test Council’s popular Sugar Bag Road Pump Track in Caloundra West to see what makes a great pump track. It’s a track for all skill levels and will get your heart pumping!
The draft concept plan
The images displayed are examples only to demonstrate the different landscape and track features to be incorporated in the pump track design.
Next steps
The pump track project is now moving forward with a specialised design and construction process that will involve:
1. Design and feedback: We’ve gathered your valuable feedback and combined it with our concept design report.
2. Engaging a specialist contractor: We’ll send the concept package to the market to find a specialist contractor who will finalise the design, manage the engineering and build the pump track.
3. Achieving the best outcome: By involving a specialist contractor, we ensure that their expertise will enhance the project. This approach allows the contractor to add extra value, aiming to achieve the best possible result for our community.
Construction timeframes will be determined once the specialist contractor is engaged. We will share the final concept plan with the community before starting the construction process.
