Formal consultation on the Proposed Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme has ended
Between 15 July and 19 September 2025, Council invited the community to explore the Proposed Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme and share their feedback.

The Sunshine Coast Council is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and the Queensland Privacy Principles.
The personal information collected in your submission will be used for the purposes of public consultation on the proposed planning scheme and planning scheme policies in accordance with the Planning Act 2016 and the Minister’s Guidelines and Rules 2024 and to maintain contact with you.
Council will be using third parties to assist in the assessment of your information, including:
- Artificial Intelligence (Azure OpenAI GPT-4) to analyse, summarise and classify or group submissions by topic and sentiment to support the efficient review of all submissions made to Council.
- Third party providers to collect, assess and summarise submissions for the purpose of review and reporting about submissions made to Council.
Your personal information may be stored by third party providers in accordance with Council’s procurement agreements and in accordance with the Information Privacy Act (2009) (Qld) and the Public Records Act (2023).
Council will be using information collected from submissions to prepare a consultation report that summarises and consolidates your feedback to inform the review of all submissions made to the proposed planning scheme and proposed planning scheme policies. Once the submission review process is complete, the consultation report will be publicly released by Council. Your submission and personal details will not be published publicly.

Making a submission
Community members were able to provide feedback on any aspect of the proposed planning scheme, including:
- Proposed planning scheme maps, such as zoning, building heights, or overlay mapping for a specific property or area of interest
- Proposed planning scheme text, including the strategic framework, zone codes, local plans, development codes, or planning scheme policies
